The relevant authority then scans all available microchip databases such as Singapore Animal Registry against the microchip number to retrieve the owner's information to establish contact.
Veterinary clinics, animal shelters, AVA, SPCA, breeders and pet shops are usually equipped with microchip scanners and therefore if your microchipped pet is lost, it is only in these places where the microchip number can be retrived.
A microchip is a biocompatible silicon chip encased in glass that is implanted under the skin of our pets. Its size is nothing bigger than a grain of rice. It emits a radiofrequency when scanned by a special scanner and provides a unique 15 number code (ISO Standard 11874 /11875). This number is similar to our Identity card or passport number.
